Chinese Association of Iowa Completed its First Semester of Teaching
Chinese at Hoyt Middle School This Year
Des Moines Students Learn Chinese
Xie Xie Chinese Association of Iowa!
The Chinese Association of Iowa completed its first semester of
teaching Chinese at Hoyt Middle School this year. The goals for
the semester was to give the students a basic understanding of Chinese
language and proper pronunciation of the language. Learning simple
language skills was the focus. Students in the class have shown
interest in attending class next school year and we believe the
class size will continue to grow. The students worked in workbooks,
learned songs, and enjoyed learning about Chinese culture. The class
met on Monday and Friday afterschool for a total of 18 classes.
The future looks promising for coordination of language classes
between Chinese Association of Iowa and Des Moines Public Schools.
"As a teacher, I noticed that the two teachers Xiaoping Wang
and Xia Chen, did a fantastic job interacting and working with middle
school students. I am looking forward to seeing them again next
year. They were wonderful!"
