Iowa Shares in Southeast Asia The Second Annual Hoover-Wallace
Dinner, March 14, 2005, Downtown Marriott Hotel, Des Moines. A
Multicultural Professionals Reception on Wednesday, March 9,
from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Greater Des Moines Partnership,
the event was held at the Wells Fargo building at 800 Walnut St.
in downtown Des Moines.
- Farewell party for Mr. Jianlin Zhai and Mrs. Xiaoyan Shen was
held at Buffet City restaurant on Friday March 4, 2005. Hebei
Provincial Foreign Affairs Office's Director headed a delegation
to Iowa and attend the donation ceremony. The ceremony of the
ownership transition of the books took place at Urbandale Public
Library on Feb. 26, 2005.
- A ten-member performance troupe from the capital city of Shijiazhuang
of Hebei Province, China, visited and performed in the Greater
Des Moines area from February 12 to February 17, 2005. The city
of Shijiazhuang is the sister city of Des Moines, Iowa, and their
visit kicked off the yearlong celebrations of the 20th anniversary
relationship of the two cities. The musicians also performed at
Tsunami Benefit Concert, held on February 13, 2005.
